Soprano Amy Warters holds a bachelor of music degree in Vocal Music Education, summa cum laude, from Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois. She has currently completed all coursework towards her master of music degree in Vocal Performance from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. Known for her large, dramatic soprano voice, Ms. Warters is acclaimed for her superior and well-rounded musicianship.

During her undergraduate career at Millikin University, she studied voice with soprano Cynthia Oeck. Ms. Warters participated in a month-long early music immersion in Urbania, Italy in July of 2006. While in Italy, she studied under Millikin faculty Dr. Daniel Carberg and Professor Matthew Leese. She performed the title role in a scene from Jacopo Peri’s Orfeo ed Euridice before an Italian audience. She also performed the role of the Second Prioress in a scene from Dialogues of the Carmelites, and understudied the role of the Countess in Millikin’s production of The Marriage of Figaro under the direction of Terry Stone. In April of 2006, she was invited by audition to sing on the Pi Kappa Lambda honors music recital at Milllikin. Ms. Warters presented a senior voice recital in May of 2006.

As a James Millikin Scholar, Ms. Warters was required to present a senior project at the end of her undergraduate career. For her project, she chose text representing the four seasons and composed a four-movement a cappella choral work. She presented her final composition, performed by an SATB choir, at Millikin in December of 2007.

During her graduate career at Northern Arizona University, Ms. Warters performed the role of Female Chorus in Benjamin Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia. Her portrayal of Magda Sorel in a scene Gian Carlo Menotti’s The Consul moved audiences to tears. She also successfully performed roles from scenes of other operas such as Violetta from La Traviata and Alice from Falstaff. Ms. Warters will be presenting a graduate recital in the coming months featuring works by Richard Wagner, Claude Debussy, Aaron Copland, and Johann Sebastian Bach.

In addition to being a vocalist, Ms. Warters is also an accomplished flautist and pianist. She studied flute with Dr. Laurie Glencross at Millikin. She has performed as second flautist in the Symphonic Wind Ensemble at Millikin and has also performed as second flautist in the Millikin-Decatur Symphony Orchestra. She presented a senior flute recital in April of 2007. Ms. Warters has an extensive background in piano, receiving 10 years of private piano instruction prior to her university studies.

Ms. Warters has demonstrated great success as a private music teacher. She instructs students in voice, piano, and flute. Her background in music education as well as performance is a valuable asset in her teaching ability. Ms. Warters’ students excel in music theory, artistry, and performance.

Ms. Warters currently studies voice with internationally acclaimed soprano Deborah Raymond.
